The Start of Golden Macadamias
2001: The Start of Golden Macadamias The signing of key growers, lease, and funding agreements marked LK Produkte’s entry into the macadamia industry. With growers already committed to delivering 1,000 tons of nuts to the facility, plans were set in motion for a new 1,600m² processing plant in the West End building at Alkmaar. Designed to handle a throughput of 2,000 tons of nuts per year while maintaining HACCP standards, this moment laid the foundation for what would become Golden Macadamias.

25 Years of Golden Macadamias — Growing Together since 21 May 2001. On 21 May 2001, Golden Macadamias was officially registered and the journey began. Today, Golden Macadamias is synonymous with premium quality, built through resilience, trusted partnerships, and a long-term vision for sustainable growth. New Vacuum Machine
Golden Macadamias invested in a new vacuum machine to improve the vacuum sealing of macadamias, helping to preserve freshness and maintain product quality. The upgrade reinforced the company’s commitment to delivering macadamias that consistently met the Golden standard.

1st Factory Expansion - Conveyor
The first factory expansion marked an important step in improving operational efficiency at Golden Macadamias. The installation of a new conveyor system streamlined processing operations, increased handling capacity, and supported the company’s growing production demands.

4 Ton Hopper
The addition of the 4-ton hopper improved the intake process from farm to factory, allowing for quicker and more efficient handling of incoming nuts. The upgrade helped streamline operations and supported a smoother flow of product through the facility during peak delivery periods.

The cool room filled with Golden Macadamias boxes reflected the company’s growing production capabilities and commitment to maintaining product quality.

Factory Expansion - Processing & Office Development
As Golden Macadamias continued to grow, the factory expansion included the development of additional processing areas, expanded factory infrastructure, and new office and boardroom facilities. The expansion strengthened operational capacity, improved workflow efficiencies, and created a more integrated hub to support collaboration, planning, and the growing needs of the business and team.

Upgraded Cool Room
The upgraded cool room expanded storage capacity and enhanced temperature control systems to better preserve the quality and freshness of macadamia nuts. The improvements ensured more efficient storage management while maintaining optimal conditions to protect product quality throughout the processing and packing journey.

Upgraded Kernel Dryer
The upgraded kernel water bath dryer improved the post-cracking process by efficiently drying kernels after the water bath stage, where immature nuts were identified through the specialised water dilution process. The enhancement supported better moisture control, improved product handling, and maintained the high quality standards of the final kernel product.

2006 Brand Refresh
In 2006 Golden Macadamias introduced a refreshed brand identity featuring a gold and maroon colour palette while retaining the well-known swirl within the nut icon. The refresh marked a new chapter for the company, strengthening the brand’s presence in the market and ensuring Golden Macadamias remained modern, recognisable, and competitive within the global industry.

In 2021, construction commenced on the new Golden Macadamias processing facility, marking a major milestone in the company’s growth journey. The development laid the foundation for what would become the largest single-site macadamia processing facility in the world.

The completion of the facility marked a defining milestone for Golden Macadamias, establishing it as the world’s largest single-site macadamia processing operation. The new state-of-the-art facility, with a processing capacity exceeding 30,000 tonnes, significantly expanded capacity, improved operational efficiency, and reinforced the company’s position as an international industry leader, supporting continued growth and global demand.

2025 Brand Refresh
In 2025, Golden Macadamias underwent a brand refresh to evolve into the identity recognised today. The refreshed look and positioning aligned with changing market trends while reinforcing Golden Macadamias as a modern, relevant, and trusted industry leader within the global macadamia sector.

Product Innovation – Press ’n’ Snap
Through ongoing product innovation and development, Golden Macadamias introduced Press ’n’ Snap, becoming the first processor to produce flavoured macadamias in-shell that can be opened by hand. The unique design allows the shell to be cracked by pressing the nut together, eliminating the need for a metal key or tool and offering a more convenient way to access and enjoy the nut.
